India win team Championship in 16th Asian Cross Country Championships

We extend our congratulations to the Under 18 Girls 6KM team for their victory in the team event at the 16th Asian Cross Country Championships. The team put up an outstanding performance with Shruti Sridharan securing the gold medal, Beby grabbing the bronze, and Priyanka C and Bhumeshwory Devi finishing in the 4th and 5th positions respectively. With this exceptional performance, the Indian team emerged as the overall team champions.

Team India clinched another victory in the Women’s 10 KM event at the 16th Asian Cross Country Championships held in Kathmandu, as Sonika, Chhavi, and Munni secured the bronze medal, 4th and 5th positions respectively. Together, their performance ensured Team India’s top position on the podium.

Team India secured 3rd position in the Men’s 10 KM event at the 16th Asian Cross Country Championships, with Hemraj, Anand, Nitesh, and Balram finishing at the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 14th positions respectively.

Team India has emerged victorious at the 16th Asian Cross Country Championships in Kathmandu, Nepal. The Boys’ Under 20 Team of 8 KM run clinched the overall team championship. Shivaji M’s impressive performance earned him the silver medal, while Subhasis Ghosh and Vijay S finished the race in 4th and 5th positions respectively.

A total of 65 athletes from 11 nations – Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Maldives, Pakistan and Thailand – are participating the championship, organised by Nepal Athletics Association under the auspices of Asian Athletics Association.

Before competition Dr Adille Sumariwalla, AFI President, paid a visit to the Indian team ahead of the 16th Asian Cross Country Championships in Kathmandu, Nepal. With his background as a former athlete and recipient of the Arjuna Award, Dr Sumariwala imparted his wisdom and encouraged our athletes to perform their best in the upcoming race.
