Seema Antil makes it to fourth Olympics!

Seema Antil (-Punia) will be joining Shiny Wilson and Vikas Gowda as the third Indian athlete ever to take part in FOUR Olympic Games at Tokyo!

Discus thrower Seema Antil (-Punia) will be the third Indian track and field athlete ever to attend four Olympic Games. Seema, who earlier taken part in Athens 2004, London 2012 and Rio 2016, made a last minute qualification to join the Tokyo bound team after a splendid performance (63.72 mtrs) in the recently concluded Senior Inter-State Athletics championships at Patiala.Five other Indian athletes are making it to their second Olympic Games in Tokyo. It was a long journey for race walker Kolothum Thodi Irfan after his first appearance in London way back in 2012, where he finished a creditable tenth place in 20 KM Walk with a noteworthy time of 1 hour 20 minutes and 21 seconds. Another race walker, Sandeep Kumar, who took part in the grueling 50 KM Walk in the Brazilian capital in 2016 is now going for 20 KM Walk in Tokyo. Quarter-milers Muhammed Anas Yahiya and Arokia Rajiv will perform important roles in the Men’s 4 x 400m relay squad. World University Games champion Dutee Chand, who ran 100m in Rio de Janeiro, entered for both 100 and 200m events this time. The 26 member Indian Team named on Monday (July 5) is consisting of 17 men and 9 women athletes. Of which a record number of twenty athletes will be making their Olympic debut in the Japanese capital this month-end.
