GRANDPARENTS DAY CELEBRATION

GRANDPARENTS DAY CELEBRATION

An enthusiastic innocent smile greeted by an affectionate loving one, a cheerful shout of welcome and a gentle hug … this was the scenario at St. Joseph’s convent School Idgah Hills, Bhopal, on 14 October, 2025, when the little children of class V ran ahead to greet their grandparents on the occasion of Grandparents Day. The children had been busy for the last ten to fifteen days, preparing various items to make their grandparents happy. After all, grandparents were the special guests for the day.

The theme of the program was ‘TIMELESS WISDOM, ENDLESS LOVE’. All the children of class V participated in this program. The chief guest for this occasion was Dr. C B Sahu, a retired surgeon from Hamidia Hospital. During his service and after retirement too, he has been serving people selflessly and now he is providing free medical service to the needy. He was welcomed by the principal Dr. Sr. Lilly with a sapling. There were two guests of honour, Mr. Siraj Ahmad Farooqui and Mr. Virendra Singh Bhadauria. They were also welcomed with a sapling.

The program began with lighting of the lamp invoking divine blessings on the august gathering. A meaningful prayer service was held, followed by a rhythmic prayer dance set to the rhythm of the song ‘तू ही है मेरा आधार’.

The choir of class V presented a scintillating welcome song ‘come place your loving hands in our tiny hands’ to extend a special, loving and warm welcome to their dear grandparents. The importance and beauty of relationship between generations and the duty and responsibility associated with it was staged through a skit ‘Anmol Rishtey, Sunehre Pal’.

A colourful fusion dance showcasing the rhythm, culture and traditions of Haryana, Sambhalpur, Gujarat and Kerala was presented in a unique style. This was followed by a theme song ““हम हैं किस्मत वाले हम को मिला दादा दादी का प्यार” sung by the choir to show their love, gratitude and respect towards their grandparents.

The chief guest, Dr. C B Sahu, in his address to the gathering, said that life is about doing something for the society, not just the self. As a doctor, he insisted that the parents and grandparents must focus on the good upbringing of the children which included good nutrition, physical activities, less screen time and awareness about the TV advertisements and programs. He added that this was necessary because the present generation should be physically. Mentally and emotionally fit so that the parents and grandparents can hand over the baton of future world to them.

Primary headmistress Sr. Stania proposed the vote of thanks. A finale item, based on the theme Timeless wisdom, Endless Love’ was staged presenting the bond shared by family members.

All the grandparents were given mementoes and indelible memories of this grand occasion which they had shared with their loving grandchildren.
