SGFI Announces U-18 Boys and Girls Volleyball Teams for ISF World School Championship 2026

Ranchi, June 11, 2026: In a significant step towards strengthening India’s presence in international school sports, the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) has announced the final Indian Under-18 Boys and Girls Volleyball Teams for the ISF World School Volleyball Championship 2026, scheduled to be held at Shuangluo, China, from July 1 toJuly 10, 2026.
The teams were selected after a highly competitive national selection trial conducted at the Harivansh Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium, Ranchi, on June 11. Young volleyball talents from various states and educational institutions across the country participated in the trials, displaying exceptional skill, athleticism, and determination.
The selection process was supervised by an experienced committee comprising renowned volleyball experts and former international players, including Dr. Shailesh Kumar, Hema Kelkar, Amarjeet, Rajan Sen, Amit Kumar, and Gaurav A. Dengale.
Strong Representation from Across India
The selected girls’ squad reflects India’s diverse volleyball talent pool, with players representing West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Kerala, and CBSE schools. West Bengal and Tamil Nadu emerged as the strongest contributors, highlighting their continued dominance in school-level volleyball.
The boys’ squad features players from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Vidya Bharti, showcasing the nationwide growth of volleyball talent.
Selection Based on Merit and Performance
According to the selection committee, the trials focused on evaluating players’ technical skills, game awareness, physical fitness, teamwork, and competitive temperament. The final teams were chosen purely on merit, ensuring that the best available talent will represent India on the global stage.
Officials expressed confidence that both teams possess the potential to perform strongly against leading volleyball nations and bring laurels to the country.
International Exposure for Young Athletes
Participation in the ISF World School Volleyball Championship offers a valuable opportunity for young Indian athletes to gain international exposure, compete against world-class opponents, and enhance their experience at the highest level of school sports.
The championship is expected to feature top school teams from several countries, making it a prestigious platform for emerging volleyball players.

With just a few weeks remaining before departure to China, both teams are expected to undergo intensive training camps to fine-tune their strategies and build team cohesion ahead of the international event.
