St. Joseph’s Convent School Celebrates 70 Glorious Years of Legacy and Faith
BHOPAL, July 9: St. Joseph’s Convent School, Idgah Hills, Bhopal, celebrated its 70th Foundation Day with grandeur and gratitude, marking seven decades of excellence in education, faith, service, and value-based learning. The celebration, themed “70 Years of Legacy, Foundation of Faith,” paid tribute to the visionary Sisters whose dedication and perseverance laid the foundation of one of the city’s most prestigious educational institutions.
The historic occasion brought together the Sisters of the Congregation, school management, alumni, teachers, students, staff, and well-wishers in a heartfelt celebration of the school’s remarkable journey spanning seventy years.
The distinguished gathering was graced by Rev. Sr. Anjana, Provincial Superior of the Pachmarhi Province, as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries included Rev. Sr. Francis Joseph, Manager of the School; Dr. Sr. Lilly, Principal; Sr. Stania, Elementary Headmistress; Sr. Bimla, KG Headmistress; Sr. Helena, In-charge of Prem Seva Kendra; and Mrs. Rita Lalwani, President of the ACES Alumni Association, along with several alumni members.
The programme commenced with a ceremonial General Salute by the School Band, followed by a lively rendition of “Rasputin.” The NCC cadets escorted the dignitaries to the venue, where an impressive cultural programme awaited them.
The celebration began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolising faith, knowledge, and hope. Principal Dr. Sr. Lilly led the gathering in prayer, expressing gratitude to God for His abundant blessings over the past seventy years and seeking His guidance for the future. The prayer service concluded with a graceful prayer dance performed to the devotional hymn “ईश वचन से तेरे ओ पालनहारे मेरे.”
The audience was delighted by an energetic folk dance performed by the Primary Section students on the vibrant song “Jhoomar Ja,” showcasing youthful enthusiasm and cultural richness.
The dignitaries were felicitated with saplings and bouquets by teachers, students, support staff, and alumni members. The School Choir then presented the Foundation Day theme song, “How Wonderful It Would Be to Pause and Reflect, On the Toils and Struggles Etched in History,” evoking nostalgia and pride among the audience.
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Sr. Anjana congratulated the entire school fraternity on the landmark occasion and acknowledged the invaluable contributions of former Principals, Sisters, teachers, staff, and co-workers in shaping the institution. She encouraged students to uphold the values and traditions of the school with renewed commitment, reminding them that they are the hope and future of the nation.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the launch of the SJC Podcast. In its inaugural episode, School Prime Minister Saumya Gupta engaged in an inspiring conversation with Rev. Sr. Francis Joseph, whose decades of service as a teacher, Principal, and Manager have left a lasting impact on generations of students.
Adding another milestone to the institution’s achievements, Rev. Sr. Anjana inaugurated the 3D Printer of the Robotics Lab in the presence of Principal Dr. Sr. Lilly, reflecting the school’s commitment to innovation, technology, and future-ready education.
The grand finale beautifully depicted the school’s glorious seven-decade journey through narration, cultural performances, and a multimedia presentation. The School Band enthralled the audience with stirring renditions of “Hindustaan” and “Bhagwan Mera Jeevan,” bringing the celebrations to an inspiring conclusion.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks proposed by School Prime Minister Saumya Gupta, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, alumni, teachers, parents, students, and staff for making the celebration a memorable success.
