St. Joseph’s Convent School, Bhopal Celebrates Investiture Ceremony 2026; Emphasizes ‘Legacy of Virtues for Excellence

BHOPAL: St. Joseph’s Convent School, Idgah Hills, witnessed a landmark day of leadership and transition as it hosted its annual Investiture Ceremony today, July 4, 2026. This year, the solemn ceremony centered around the powerful theme, “CREATING A LEGACY OF VIRTUES FOR EXCELLENCE.”

A Grand Reception for the Chief Guest
The event was graced by Mr. Atul Bhanotra, Commandant, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), who currently commands the CISF Unit at Raja Bhoj Airport, Bhopal. Mr. Bhanotra, a UPSC achiever whose career trajectory from Assistant Commandant to his current apex role stands as a sterling example of merit, perseverance, and dedication, was received with a spectacular general salute by the school band. Escorted by NCC cadets and the School Principal, Dr. Sr. Lilly, he was presented with a young sapling, symbolizing continuous growth, positivity, and a lasting impact on society.

Leadership Rooted in Character: Keynote Addresses
In her keynote address to the newly inducted student parliament, Principal and President of the School Parliament, Dr. Sr. Lilly, reminded the student body of the true weight of their new titles.
“These positions entrust the students with the responsibility of leadership. True excellence is not measured by our achievements, but by the virtues we live by. The school motto ‘Virtue Alone Ennobles’ perfectly embodies this theme of virtue for excellence,” she stated, expressing her vision for an inclusive environment where every child feels deeply valued.

Following the school’s long-standing traditions, the day commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a graceful prayer dance set to the devotional hymn “ईश वचन से तेरे, ओ पालनहारे मेरे.” A soulful prayer service invoked divine blessings, where symbolic wheels representing the Legacy of Truth, Empathy, Mutual Respect, Justice, and Unity were placed at the altar. The school choir then brought the spiritual segment to a soaring close with the melodious theme song, ‘चलो आसमाँ की ओर’.

The Oath-Taking & The New Cabinet
The formal investiture procedures began in the presence of Chief Guest Mr. Atul Bhanotra, Principal Rev. Dr. Sr. Lilly, and Sports Officer Mr. Ravdeep Singh Malhari.
The student cabinet for the academic year 2026-27 is led by Soumya Gupta as Prime Minister and Lavanya Jain as Deputy Prime Minister. Alongside them, the newly appointed Cabinet Ministers, class representatives, and the Captains and Vice-Captains of the four school houses took their solemn oaths, officially receiving their sashes, badges, and house flags. Authority is Easy to Attain, Difficult to Maintain Speaking not just as the Chief Guest but also as a proud parent of a student at the school, Mr. Atul Bhanotra delivered a heartfelt and grounded speech. While congratulating the student body, parents, and faculty, he observed: “Holding a post is not just symbolic; rather, this ceremony is about the trust bestowed upon the leaders by the people. Authority is easy to attain, but difficult to maintain. Whatever profession we might take up, it is important to become the most trustworthy person. Today, India wants people with integrity and character, not just academic excellence. The goal of education is to build morally upright people.”

He concluded by urging the student leaders to remain anchored and to never forget the immense sacrifices and struggles of their parents and teachers. The memorable event concluded with Dr. Sr. Lilly presenting a memento to the Chief Guest as a token of appreciation, followed by a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by the newly minted Prime Minister, Soumya Gupta. The program ended on a patriotic note with the National Anthem played by the school band.
